At the University of California, Berkeley, 2011 Chancellor’s Award ceremony, the Vice Chancellor said, “Pepper’s enthusiasm for her work in a culturally diverse community of scholars carries over into the workplace, and she is able to model intercultural competence by communication with respect and compassion…. Her extensive training in Nonviolent Communication and mediation has become part of the everyday work culture in our department and has transformed the way her staff communicates both in the workplace and in their private lives.” Pepper is a licensed trainer with the International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP) and is certified as a victim offender dialogue mediator.
